Job:

Sky Lights

Location:

London SW7

Materials:

Plaster

These dramatic and sculptural sky-lights allowed us the opportunity to improve on the processes developed when making the Fireplace for Amanda Levete.

The shapes were CAD designed, sectioned and then CNC machined into Polystyrene. The Polystyrene was then surfaced with a soft plaster, hand finished, and a Fiberglass mould taken from it. This was then layed up using Plaster and Scrim, and the casts finished by hand. Location points were indicated on the Polystyrene original, which allowed us to exactly locate and orientate the casts on the hung ceiling.

We have now developed this process furthur. Follow the link to see a project using the improved technique.
